Gramercy, situated between Union Square and 24th Street from Fifth to First Avenues, is the city’s oldest residential area. The area is named after Gramercy Park - the last private park in New York City, requiring a key for access. Amidst this quiet and safe neighborhood, the brownstones directly adjacent to the park are some of the most exclusive properties in the city. Architectural landmarks such as the Flatiron building and the Metropolitan Life Insurance Company Tower accentuate the neighborhood’s historical essence, though luxury high-rises and renovated warehouse loft spaces also make up a portion of this quaint area. With convenient access to the Village, SoHo and Midtown from its central location on the East side, Gramercy offers its residents sophistication and mobility, often at a reasonable price. The neighborhood has an abundance of bars, restaurants, and trendy nightspots, while maintaining its charm and safety.
